9 Black-Owned Brands You Want To Know About

As I stand in solidarity with the black community in the fight for justice and equality, I’ve taken the last few days to figure out how I want to communicate my support with my audience. Most of my audience follows me for advice on fashion, lifestyle and wellness tips, so I really wanted to touch base on that topic today. There is not enough support for black-owned businesses and I myself am guilty for that. Over the last few days, I have found such incredibly beautiful black-owned brands that I have highlighted on instagram and want to continue to do so in greater depth here. Below you will find some fashion and beauty brands I have recently discovered and purchased from…

Written By Kayla Seah

Local European

A beautiful clothing brand created by Alexandra Bunch. She uses sustainable practices to manufacture her products. All clothing is made from deadstock fabrics, which reduced textile waste and lowers the carbon footprint. I just order some pieces and can't wait to style them on here!

Epara - Luxury Skincare

A skincare line made of high quality, scientifically proven products derived from rich soils of Africa. Ozohu Adoh is the founder and CEO of Epara. She grew up in Nigeria and attained her MBA at Oxford University, she suffered dry uneven skin tone her whole life and never found effective products until she developed her own. She uses organic ingredients from Africa to create her formula that is hydrating and healing to sensitive skin.

Oma The Label
A jewelry line you can wear every day! I love a good jewelry line that creates pieces that work so well in your day to day life and Oma The Label seems to embody that perfectly. Their new collection launch comes out June 6th.

Propa Beauty
A female found company that is committed to making lipsticks in pigments that work really for darker skin tones. I know myself, I find it difficult to find the right nudes, as a lot of them are developed for lighter skin tones. I just ordered the shade 'Focused' from them and looking forward to reviewing! Their lipsticks are also vegan, paraben free and cruelty free.

Rosen Skincare

A clean ingredient skincare line dedicated to target acne prone skin. The founder Jamika Martin was tired of the acne care industry, she wanted to created a cleaner product that worked much more effectively than what was out there. I have very sensitive skin, so I'm eager to try this line out - I ordered the Earth Mask which is suppose to be hydrating and cleansing at the same time.

Pear Nova
Founder Rachel James is committed to high end nail polish line that is creulty free, vegan, and 5 free, which means no formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, toluene, and dibutly Phthalate DBP. Her nail polish range has such beautiful colors, especially the nude tones!

Liha
A natural and organic skincare brand that blends the rich botanical life of West Africa with traditional English aromatherapy and remedies. Everything is handmade in small batches, 100% vegan, cruelty free and free of parabens, SLS and chemicals. I just ordered the Idan Oil to use on my body but it can also be used a face oil or on hair.

Monrowe

A beautiful collection of hats created by Dani Evans, inspired by her grandfather's legacy. as a free-spirited jazz musician from the American south. She states that these are the hats he would have worn, that his aesthetic is channeled into the design of each hat. I myself am a hat collector, as I believe them to be a timeless piece that will never go out of style. I can't wait to get my order in!

Small Needs

A mother of two who runs a beautiful vintage shop on Etsy. The pieces she finds are so classic and timeless, I'll have my eye on this shop for awhile and continue to check back as pieces seem to sell quite fast!
