A Guide To Joshua Tree

A Guide To Joshua Tree

After spending a couple days in LA, we drove about 2.5 hours out of the city to Joshua Tree where we checked into our beautiful Airbnb and began our desert escape. All the dirt roads eventually lead you to this breathtaking desert town with mountain views and the most insane sunrises.  You quickly begin to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, it was such a calming feeling to experience.

Things to do:

Honestly, relax. This isn't an extensive travel guide on a lot of places to go, because I really feel like Joshua Tree is simply not for that. It's a hippie and artsy place where you really feel like you just want to take things slow and unwind. We started every morning, playing records, enjoying breakfast on the porch and just taking in the gorgeous landscapes.

Stay:

Definitely rent an Airbnb - there are so many great ones available out there! It's where you want to be to start and end your day. Our evenings were some of my favourite moments, which consisted of opening up some wine, making dinner and sitting by the fire. It's a great weekend escape for a couple or few friends!

If you do start to have cabin fever though, here are a few recommendations I have...

Explore:

Joshua Tree National Park - so many different landscapes to see! Head there by car and explore for hours.

Pioneer Town - this is so fun to go to! It feels like you have walked right into an old western movie set. Its not very big so it won't take you all day to walk around but it's fun for photos and to feel like you've escape modern time for a second.

The Integraton - A 60 minute sonic healing session! We sadly didn't get a chance to experience this because you need to have reservations booked ahead of time. I heard it's quite a relaxing and rejuvenating experience though.

Eat:

Frontier – a perfect place for lunch, serving up healthy vegan options! They also make delicious matcha lattes.

Joshua Tree Coffee Company  – A great spot to grab a coffee, not really ideal for sitting down but pick up some delicious coffee and beans to bring home!

Pappy + Harriet’s – a bar and grill with live music! Reservations are highly recommended.

La Copine – was recommended by our Airbnb host but we never made it. Apparently their hours are a bit odd so check their website for times.
