Our Escape To Sonoma

After too many months cooped up in our apartment, we desperately needed a little escape from LA. We wanted somewhere we could easily drive to and simply just be surrounded by nature. We packed up our car and drove 6 hours north to Sonoma, where we arrived to the very charming MacArthur Place.

As soon as we arrived to MacArthur Place, we knew we chose the right spot for our getaway from the city. The rooms feel like your own personal cottage, equipped with a front porch, private patio, outdoor shower and indoor fireplace.

Since the property only has 64 guest rooms, it didn't feel crowded at all, in fact you barely saw anyone except for when you were dining on the property. Which is a blessing during these uncertain times.

The whole place has this undeniable charm to it and it starts to feel like it's own little neighborhood. I love trips like this because you don't feel the pressure of doing too many activities or going too many places. We started every morning with a dip in the pool and walked to grab coffee at the cafe on the property. We rode bikes in the afternoon (also provided by MacArthur) and in the evenings we enjoyed dinners on the patio at Layla, which has incredible food and wine.

MacArthur Place makes you feel like you can escape the real world for a second and breath again. If you get the chance, I highly recommend staying here.

Other things we did off the property:

Viansa Winery - amazing views to have a wine tasting
Glen Ellen Star- a delicious wood-fire oven restaurant only 20 minutes off property
