3 New Year's Eve Cocktails
Time to celebrate, yet again! As the holidays come to a close so does another year. 2015 was an incredible year for me, in both my career and personal life, so why not raise a glass (or two) to the accomplishments and obstacles we overcame. Instead of doing a typical New Year’s Eve outfit post, I teamed up with my good friend over at BLUSHÂ and created 3 cocktails that any at home bartender can whip up for their guests (or themselves), to ring in 2016. They are a twist on the classics and all end up looking absolutely beautiful on a bar cart!
The Bourbon Bomber (via The Boys Club)
3/4 cup apple cider
1/4 cup bourbon
1 1/2 tsp agave nectar
1/2 tsp all spice
1/2 tsp lemon zest
1/2 tsp nutmeg, grated
drop of bitters
pinch of grated ginger
rosemary sprig, for garnish
Directions:
In a cocktail shaker, add a few ice cubes, bourbon, apple cider, agave nectar, all spice, lemon zest, nutmeg and a pinch of grated ginger. Shake. Shake. Shake. Strain the drink into a glass filled with ice. Top with a drop of bitters and a rosemary sprig for garnish. Cheers!
French 75
2 oz. (¼ cup) gin
1 oz. (2 tbsp.) honey syrup (see below)
1 oz. (2 tbsp.) freshly squeezed lemon juice
Champagne
Lemon twist and a raspberry for garnish
Directions:
Honey
Hot water
Heat 4 parts honey to 1 part hot water in a saucepan over medium-low heat until the mixture reaches a simmer. Remove from heat and cool. Store at room temperature or refrigerate as desired.
Combine the gin, cooled honey syrup and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until blended and well chilled. Strain into glasses, top off with champagne and garnish with a twist of lemon.
