Easy Changes

As much as I love buying new pieces for my home, lately I can’t seem to find anything that’s really worth the investment. I’ve been meaning to do my hallway entrance for ages now and I still can’t find the perfect end table, lamp, mirror, basically everything… I think the problem with me is that I have an image in my head of what it should look like and I won’t settle for anything else. I’m also on the search for a good mid-price home decor store in Berlin – where is the Home Sense, CB2 or West Elm? Come on you lovely Germans, help a girl out!

Okay, so the purpose of this post isn’t really about new furniture at all, it’s actually to discuss moving around pieces you already have. One of our first pieces we bought for the apartment was our black circle table; we found it at an antique market and instantly fell in love with it. After a month or so we then decided we wanted a long wood table instead and had one custom made for our place, which meant that our black table sat in a corner piled with other things that didn’t have a space for the past year. I finally pushed it out the other day on a mission to snap some pictures to sell it, but when I stepped back I realized I couldn’t part with it. Indecisive much? So I moved the living room around, made room for both tables and decided the the Not Your Standard desks would be to the left on our big white table and eating would be to the right. The point of it all: it’s funny how working with the furniture you have can change the whole feel of a room.

And what great timing. Lifestyle Mirror just published a lovely feature taking a closer look inside my workspace alongside a few of my other favourite bloggers, including Gal Meets Glam, Honestly WTF, and Wit & Delight.
