A Quick Guide To Iceland

A Quick Guide To Iceland

Iceland was one of the most unique places I’ve ever travelled to. It’s natural beauty is captivating and it’s quaintness, charming. Although I only was able to spend 4 days there, I feel like I experienced enough to recognize how beautiful this country really is. It’s breathtaking views to it’s natural wonders, makes it an incredibly photogenic place. I already want to book my next trip back….perhaps this time in the summer. If you too happen to find yourself having a short stay in Iceland, be sure to use my quick guide for reference.

SEE

 Gullfoss Waterfall

One of Iceland's most iconic and loved waterfalls! It's about a 1.5 hour drive from the city of Reykjavik and is located in the canyon of Olfusa river.

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

Another breathtaking waterfall to see, the Seljalandsfoss falls drop 167 feet and makes for a beautiful photo backdrop!

Hot Springs: Reykjadalur

Literal translation 'Steam Valley' - if you are looking for something less touristy and more natural than the Blue Lagoon, then this is the spot for you. These natural hot springs are in the middle of the mountains and it's quite a scenic hike down. Be sure to go be prepared and you will be in for an experience.

STAY:

Sand Hotel

A chic and modern boutique hotel right in the centre of capital, Reykjavik!

EAT:

Sandholt Cafe

Right next door to the Sand hotel, head to this cafe for delicious coffee, fresh baked goods and warm bread. Everything you need on a cold morning!

Grillmarkadurinn

A beautiful spot for dinner - with an upscale farm to table type of vibe. The food was incredibly fresh, and flavourful, the fish dishes were some of my favourites!

SHOP:

Geysir

Love the atmosphere in this shop! They carry some of my favourite labels like Ganni, A.P.C and Carven.

ACTIVITY:

Horseback Riding

We stopped by a couple large open fields to admire the gorgeous horses roaming around. Although we didn’t actually have time to ride them, I truly think it would be one of most beautiful ways to see the land. You can book tours here.

TIPS:

You really should rent a car here, it makes things so much easier and it’s a gorgeous way to see the landscapes. Turn on good music and just drive!
