Style Is Instinct

 I’ve always had a big appreciation for beautiful coffee table books. When I moved from Canada to Berlin last year, one of the hardest things to leave behind (besides my family and dog) was my collection of coffee table books. There have to be some serious cuts when you have to pack up your life in three suitcases, and the fact that each book weighed enough to push each suitcase overweight meant that I sadly had to leave them all behind. I will get them all over here eventually, but it will be a costly procedure… something I have clearly avoided!

With all that said, my lovely friend from New York recently sent me Lori Goldstein’s ‘Style Is Instinct’ to start my book collection over here. Lori Goldstein is a highly respected and incredibly talented stylist currently serving as Elle’s Editor-at-Large. Her work has always made in impact on me; she creates stories behind each picture and her attention to detail is flawless. This book is more than just pictures, it holds beautiful typography, quotes and, most importantly to me, it shows styling as a complete talent and art – something not everyone can understand.
