The Daily Super Powders I Take

The Daily Super Powders I Take

I take my morning rituals quite seriously, I never skip breakfast and never skip my daily supplements. I simply know that this is the most crucial part to set me up for the rest of the day. I usually have a green juice with celery and cucumber first thing to get everything flowing inside my body, after waiting 20 minutes for that juice to settle, I start making my smoothie. My smoothie always has these four powders in it and here is my breakdown of each one and why they are so beneficial for you.

Maca Powder

Maca is a Peruvian plant, it's related to the broccoli family and has a very subtle earthy flavour. It's usually a light creamy powder and you can find it at every health food store! Maca powder is a natural antioxidant helping fight off free radicals that can damage cells, it can also increase energy and endurance which is why I love having it before the gym. There have also been some studies that show it can improve sex drive, reduce blood pressure and sun damage!

Flax Seed

You can't go wrong with adding flax seed to just about anything. It's high in fibre and low is carbs which means it really helps support your digestive system. It's also high in Omega 3 Fatty Acids which is why it acts as an anti inflammatory and has been said to help with healthy skin and hair!

Acai Powder

We all know this powder very well by now, it's in every healthy smoothie bowl out there! There are a lot of false claims on this 'superfood powder' to be honest, so don't think of it as the be all end all of superfoods but it does have some impressive benefits. It's a great antioxidant and very nutrient dense, which means it contains a lot of Vitamin C, A, B1, B2, B3,  it also contains plenty of minerals like magnesium, calcium and zinc! Plus it makes your smoothies look delicious and adds a nice berry flavour.

Vegan Vanilla Protein Powder

I don't think this protein powder is completely necessary powder to incorporate if you don't want to. However for me, I absolutly love it, from the taste to the energy to how it keeps me full in the mornings. I use the vanilla one from Genuine Health called Organic Fermented Vegan Protein Powder. It has 7 high protein vegan ingredients – organic spirulina, organic mung bean, organic yellow pea kernel, organic pumpkin, organic flaxseed, organic hemp and organic brown rice – they all provide a balanced amino acid profile!
