Twirling in Cascais
Aviators: Ray Ban
The beauty of my surroundings completely absorb me in moments like these. We took a day trip out of Lisbon to the town of Cascais, a 40-minute train ride away, escaping to another gorgeous part of Portugal. Cascais is one of those spots you think only exist in your head, and then suddenly you are walking the streets, seeing it, experiencing it face-to-face.
When we stepped off the train, we had the breezy Atlantic to the left and a charming town to the right. We immediately started walking away from the tourists’ path and dove into the winding cobblestone roads lined left and right with tiny houses straight out of a Woody Allen movie. You could hear Portuguese grandmothers talking to their families as you passed the open windows, flowers grew up and around walls, pastel colours perfectly complemented clean white villas nestled in between — I was utterly speechless. Within minutes we stumbled upon this particular picture perfect street, using the last bit of battery in my camera for a spur-of-the-moment shoot, spinning around and soaking in every detail.
